Neil Keenan CTA, PTSTA, Training Director
Neil is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and clinical supervisor, specialising in working with children and young people. He has a special interest in psychotherapy for neurodivergent clients and his work with this client group has been reported in the UK national press.
In addition to his role as Training Director and teaching at The Wyvern Institute RTE, for a number of years Neil was the Director of Help! Counselling and has been working with children and young people, both in his own practice and at local primary and secondary schools. After qualifying as a psychotherapist, he completed further postgraduate Level 7 training in Counselling for Children and Young People. Neil has lived most of his life just north of Bristol and works in private practice in the area where he lives.
Neil's recent article, "Brain Hemisphere Specialization and Neurodiversity as Influencing Factors on the Phenomenology of the Adult Ego State”, published in the “Transactional Analysis Journal”, has been met with significant recognition and praise within the field.

Anthea Keenan, Business Director
Anthea has been Business Director at The Wyvern Institute RTE since September 2021. She has 20 years’ experience working in administration and management roles in a number of industries, including insurance, property management and, most recently, education. Anthea grew up, lived and worked in a number of European countries, and so brings a wealth of experience and understanding of cultural difference to The Wyvern. She studied at the Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft university in Berlin and is fluent in English and German.
Anthea has a personal interest in Transactional Analysis and has found its theories and models very useful in understanding her neurodivergence and the thinking of the neurotypical majority. At The Wyvern Institute, she enjoys liaising with our students to support them with any administrative and business questions that they bring.

Rachael Barnes, Course Administrator
Rachael Barnes is the Course Administrator at The Wyvern Institute RTE, supporting Neil and Anthea by handling administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on teaching and management. Rachael studied Linguistics at Reading University and has a deep interest in language. She is passionate about The Wyvern’s work, which she was introduced to through a TA presentation delivered by Neil at a network meeting held at the Wyvern’s training venue. Having completed the TA101 Introduction to TA Workshop, Rachael has a good understanding of the subjects students will study during their course.

Carrie White, Advance Course Facilitator
Carrie White, a PTSTA, is the Course Facilitator for the Advance (Clinical) Programme at The Wyvern Institute RTE. She has extensive experience working in private clinical and supervision practice, both with individuals and groups.
Carrie's career began with management at M&S, which laid the foundation for her future professional journey. She went on to gain a postgrad management qualification and a professional coaching diploma, later applying her entrepreneurial skills to support start-ups. Her deep interest in people led her to the third sector, where she successfully led several charities and developed her training abilities, eventually starting to lecture in counselling.
Carrie’s desire to build strong relational skills led her to qualify as both a Counsellor and a Psychotherapist, completing her training in 1998 with Transactional Analysis as her core model. She specialises in working with individuals meeting the criteria for borderline personality disorder (BPD), runs groups for women in this field, and helped establish the BPD care pathway in her local NHS service.

Kate Holcombe, Advance Course Facilitator
Kate Holcombe, a PTSTA, is the Academic Support Facilitator at The Wyvern Institute RTE. She has a strong passion for writing and enjoys helping students develop their writing skills. Kate understands that academic writing can be challenging for some, and she takes pleasure in supporting students as they navigate and overcome these challenges.
As a relational psychotherapist, Kate has a particular interest in early relational trauma and is passionate about authentic relating and co-creational methodology as tools for fostering acceptance and change. In her role as a trainer, Kate is dedicated to helping students connect with their own thoughts and find their unique approach to being a psychotherapist. Her style is facilitative and explorative, creating an open and relaxed environment where growth is fostered through collaboration.
